The spectacular views at the end of the Maderanertal looking towards the Hüfihütte SAC.

Quick Summary

2-day hike in the Maderanertal at the Windgällenhütte AACZ.
Excellent public transit access.
- Took the bus from Erstfeld to Golzern, Talstation Seilbahn.
- Returned via the same bus connection.
There were many waterfalls along the length of the valley which, combined with the abundance of lush vegetation, made for some great views.

Day 1: Ascent to the Windgällenhütte AACZ

Quick Summary

Took the cable car from Golzern, Talstation to Golzern, Bergstation.
Hiked via Bernetsmatt to the Windgällenhütte.
Relatively short hiking time to the hut, but this gave us lots of time to explore the area surrounding the hut.

Day 2: Descent via the Chärstelenbach

The roaring Chärstelenbach that travels all the way down the Maderanertal.

Quick Summary

Took the trail to the east of the Windgällenhütte up the valley.
Made a small detour by Holenbalm towards Firnplanggen.
- While there was indeed a thin trail going towards Firnplanggen, it was not officially marked.
Returned to Golzern by taking the trail that ran parallel to the Chärstelenbach.
